no snow goose hunt this spring that is what a friend just told me quebec radio 98.5 annouced it seconds ago!!! Is this true has anyone heard this i know the official dates have not been posted eighther !!

Would that spell the beginning of a all stop to waterfowl hunting due to flu virus in your opinion or is it just due to lower goose numbers??

I am already booked with a guide for april 15, lets hope this is cleared up soon as there is no real reason to stop the hunt as there are too many snow geese.In some U.S. states it is even legal to add magasine extension and have 6,7,8 shell in your shotgun.

maybe or not could be the cause the brid flu but they again with the goravrment you
ever know .......as far as the fall season coming not sure if there will be one ....if things get out of control with brid flu

We propose to modify the early Canada Goose season in District C, D and E. Hunting would be authorized on farmlands only, starting September 1, and running until the opening of the general waterfowl hunting season, which occurs on the third Saturday of September. In order to respect the 107 hunting days limit set by the law, the hunting season will end on December 16. Moving these 6 days of hunting will have no impact on the Canada Goose hunt because there is almost no hunting activity in these regions in December.

No-hunting zones

The Canadian Wildlife Service will continue to review the status of certain no-hunting zones in Québec. At the time of initial designation, the zones were intended to provide waterfowl with a resting area, to protect certain species or to consolidate the protection of some areas. However, changes in the number of hunters, the status of certain populations which have now become more abundant, as well as the multitude of municipal regulations limiting the use of firearms, have led CWS to review their status. We propose abolishing the no-hunting zone of Beauharnois Channel.

It is also proposed that the Cap Tourmente no-hunting zone be altered. Currently, the boundary is fixed by the Mile 40 marker on the railway. The area of the no-hunting zone would be reduced with its eastern boundary now at Cap Brulé.

Waterfowler Heritage Day

For several years, the Magdalene Islands waterfowlers association has been unhappy with this event. The association stresses that waterfowl hunting is the only type of hunting practiced on the islands. Given their isolation, the association believes that Waterfowler Heritage Day causes the early departure of birds and provokes conflict for hunting areas between hunters and the participating youths. Elsewhere, Waterfowler Heritage Day is held prior to the opening of the season. CWS would like to continue the event in the Magdalene Islands, but is prepared to consider other proposals. I think they should do away with the only allowed on farmland rule. Maybe try it in some zones and see if it will help. Introduce a spring hunt in Cap Tourmente might help as well.

yup you want to control numbers allow water hunting that will control them for sure!! And i would be hunting often for some reason i love water hunting!!!
